I absolutely love Suzanne Vega. I got into her music when I was at school after hiring out the 99.9F album from the library. Her songwriting is top notch and I love the way she makes it sound so effortless.
Many people have only heard her big hits "Luka", "Marlene on the wall" and "Tom's Diner" but her albums are full of well crafted songs, gorgeous melodies at times only whispered and display a songwriter with a watchful eye who shines with intelligence and integrity.
Her music soothes my soul, many nights I have lay in bed with her soothing, haunting vocals coming from the speakers. Her music always says to me that things are gonna be fine. I'm working on a cover of her song "The queen and the soldier" at the moment.
She has a new album coming out in February and I'm really excited. She is also playing in Glasgow again. I think this will be the fourth time I've seen her live.
I love all the stories she tells about the songs too. I got to meet her at one of her gigs at the Oran Mor and gave her a CD of "Blood makes Noise" The cover I did. Hope she liked it :O)
